Fuck you Canada

According to a new poll, a large number of Canadians hate America almost as much as liberals do. The problem with Canada, just like in America, is ignorance of what we stand for and what we're really all about. Sometimes people seem to forget that we give more aid to more nations than all the other countries of the "civilized" world combined, including food and clothing and toys and tools and all the personnel that it takes to deliver these things and train and educate people. This is one of the main reasons it pisses me off so much when people start to talk shit about the U.S., because we do and have done more for all the peoples of the world than any other nation ever. Anyway, I will try to come up with a proper paper with some verifiable stats if I can just to prove to all the people that dont believe this. But for now go read Bill O'Reilly's article "Hating America".

"The truth is that the USA has freed more human beings in 230 years than the rest of the world combined. France has freed almost no one. Ditto Canada."

It is true that the United States of America has done much to help the world. However, I'm afraid the current arrogance of our policy makers may backfire and bite us in our collective asses. When we continue to interfere with other countries' affairs when we have no business there, it's really no wonder why some others hate America. I'm sure you're repelled by that statement, but you gotta try on some different shoes now and then. Look at the world overview. Americans can be heavy-handed assholes. We do NOT rule the planet.

Thanks for reading my $0.02.

I resent the whole "Fuck You Canada" comment/post. Even though it's your own freedom of speech, it seems to me that it is arrogant and stipulative as well. How can you base an opinion on a poll? Statistics are bullshit to begin with. And even if the polls were right, don't blame Canada, we're one of the closest countries you guys have, and there are other countries with more hatred than we have. And it's not the people, it is things like Pointless War, and propagandha for example. Governments give a country their name, and it's unfortunate.

Ah ha! now i know what I have to say to get people to comment. actually im not basing my opinion on a poll, i've been to canada.

s&m17, i looked up 'stipulative' on dictionary.com and couldnt find an entry, can you explain that word to me?

closest countries we have? well duh, you're that country to the north right?

just for clarification by "Pointless War" did you mean the one where we freed a nation from a tyrranical murderous thug to live in freedom for the first time in generations? I encourage you to visit some of my links to Iraqi bloggers and see how Pointless they think it was. In the end it matters most what Iraqis think of that war. Then slightly below that would be American's since we are the ones whos soldiers are giving their lives to give them hope, then the British, then the Australians, then the Italians, then the Polish, then the Japanese, then the Koreans, then all the other countries who care about others enough to fight side by side with them to rid their country of evil and rebuild it into a safe and free nation, to be a beacon of hope for all of the oppressed societys in the middle east. Canada, well we really dont give a shit what the guys on the bench have to say.

(dp) If I was Canada, I'd be happy to be getting some action. I mean after that SARS scare, so few people wanted to TOUCH Canada, much less go for something more carnal. Hoo-ray for Canada's newfound sexual escapades...aparently being an America-hater can get you laid after all!

(pmh) Polls, like appearances, can be deceiving. America and Canada may not be as different as you think. First of all, we should remember that Canada fought side-by-side with Americans to defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan just a year ago. Some paid the ultimate price on the battlefield, including the infamous "friendly fire" incident.

Second, history has shown Canada to be a force for good in the world. The beaches of Normandy, and many other WW II battlegrounds, contain the blood of Canadians, as well as Americans.

You cannot judge an entire country (including America), nor it's place in history, by a single Administration or their current policies. Feirce debate is a necessary part of democracy, and we should welcome it, especially when we don't agree on the conclusion.

But the most disturbing aspect of this discussion, on both sides of the coin, is that it seems to indicate that we care what teenagers think. The last time I cared what a teenager thought, I was one.

Teenagers are heavily influenced by media, music, movies, videos, and all the trappings of popular culture. And why not - they are targeted by Corporations everywhere. But they are not critical thinkers. Show me a poll of the parents of those teenagers, and I'll pay attention. Next question?

(dp) *bows to pmh*

Your comments about history, polls, and judging the worth of a country based on a "snapshot" view are perfect and well stated.

Plus, I have a new quote of the day...
"The last time I cared what a teenager thought, I was one. "
